[Event] SQABD Lightning Talks 2

The event was sponsored by Bording Vista and was organized by SQABD. It was held on August 27, 2008, at Washington Hotel, Gulshan-1.

As always, this event was for the software development professionals, that includes programmers, testers, project managers, quality analysts, program managers and others.

We had 170+ participants and as usual the organizers did a great job managing it. We all had a great time!

All the presenters had 5 minutes each for their presentations, followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. Here are the list of topics and the presenters at the event:

This was truly an exciting event, and the first of its kind in Bangladesh. The event was sponsored by Therap Services, LLC and was organized by SQABD. It was held on March 31, 2008, at Washington Hotel, Gulshan-1.

This event was for the software development professionals, that includes programmers, testers, project managers, quality analysts, program managers and others. I appreciate everyone's enthusiasm. I think it was great to have all these people with different skills under one roof, enjoying themselves!

We had 130 participants and the organizers did a great job managing it. It was fun!

[Event] Work and Life at Microsoft USA by DAC-Bangladesh



DAC-Bangladesh (Microsoft) held a career seminar in Dhaka on December 13, 2007, by partnering with Microsoft Bangladesh Limited and BRAC University. The goal of the event was to help Microsoft find the talented people, help audiences to know about Microsoft and career opportunities and life at Microsoft. The event was used for information purpose only. The presenters were Bangladeshi employees at Microsoft working in various product groups in USA.

SQABD had permission from the organizers to record the event and publish it.

[Roundtable] State of Software Test Teams in BD

SQABD held it's 12th roundtable on "State of Software Test Teams in BD" on 16th June, 2007. The event took place in Baton Rouge Restaurant at Gulshan, Dhaka.

The event was fully sponsored by DSi. Selected Testers, Test Team Leads and Project Managers came together to share their experiences in software testing and communication with test teams. We discussed what works and what does not work, based on our experience.

SQABD had also made arrangements for members to join the live session online through SkypeCast.

Tareq Siraj, who was one of the participants, joined the discussions from Canada through SkypeCast. Although we had a lot of trouble at times with the bad internet connection, he was able to listen in. He gave a good overview of the discussions here.

[News] 3 Year Anniversary Celebration

This is an old news. Better late than never I guess.

This was a gathering of the SQABD Management Team on the occasion of the 3 year anniversary of SQABD. The location was Baton Rouge Restaurant, Gulshan-2, and was held on March 10, 2007 from 12pm to 3pm.

The event was fully sponsored by Ardites. This occasion gave us a chance to meet face to face with all the Management Team members and discuss our responsibilities, achievements and our goals. We spoke to our guests from Ardites for feedback on our performance and their expectations.

By the way, Ardites is a Finnish company that has just started operation in BD and is planning to offshore their testing here. They gave us a presentation of their company during the event. We also gave a presentation of our activities.

[Roundtable] Career in SQA and Testing

SQABD held its 11th roundtable, with the support of BASIS. This roundtable was on "Career in SQA and Testing". Career in SQA and Testing is very new in Bangladesh compared to other careers in software development. Confusion regarding this career path is a common scenario. The purpose of this roundtable is to face the brutal facts regarding this career path in Bangladesh. We tried to identify how Employers and Academia can contribute to this area to positively influence the Bangladesh software industry.

The roundtable was held on January 13, 2007, from 4:15pm to 7:15pm. BASIS facilitated this roundtable by organizing the venue and providing the services for the meeting. SQABD moderated the meeting.

[Roundtable] Fixed Price Software Projects - Session 3

SQABD held its 10th roundtable, with the support of BASIS. This roundtable was the 3rd and final session on the discussions on "Fixed Price Software Projects". A fixed price contract between a provider and a customer defines the features, timing and price of a software project. The purpose of this roundtable was to identify the risks of undertaking these projects and how to mitigate the risks.

The roundtable was held on October 7, 2006. BASIS facilitated this roundtable by organizing the venue and providing the services for the meeting. SQABD moderated the meeting.
